Sharla graduated from NC State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After raising four children and spending more than a year in physical therapy for a traumatic ankle injury, she returned to school at Martin Community College and obtained her AAS to become a physical therapist assistant.
Sharla is in her 13th year as a pediatric PTA and has experience with many childhood diagnoses, including spina bifida, cerebral palsy, prematurity, Down syndrome, and various chromosomal disorders. She enjoys her daily interactions with pediatric patients and their families as they learn new strategies to meet their mobility, balance, and coordination goals.
Married for 33 years, Sharla and her husband have four adult children and two grandchildren. They enjoy kayaking, short mountain hikes, and spending time with family.
